A feature-length English language adaptation of our BAFTA Cymru winning documentary Y Parchedig Emyr Ddrwg: the story of a North Wales vicar imprisoned for mutilating the corpses of his male parishioners.

Heading to film festivals – Spring 2023

ENGLISH LANGUAGE DOCUMENTARY

Our first documentary Y Parchedig Emyr Ddrwg  made headlines when S4C first showed it in February 2022. It shed new light on a story that was widely misunderstood, by exploring the life and inner turmoil of Reverend Emyr Owen – the notorious North Wales vicar who cut off the private parts of three male parishioners left in his charge before burial.
In light of this fresh interest, we’re telling Emyr’s story again – this time in an extended version for an English-speaking audience.
Having recorded our interviews and dramatisations in both Welsh and English, it was an easy task to recreate the original documentary. And with no allocated broadcast slot, we’ve taken the chance to dig deeper - dedicating more time to Emyr’s character and the observations of behavioural experts.

"He was ashamed and repressed, and that combined with his religion, drove him mad."

Ruth Blunden - Historian

The film is due for release ahead of the 2023 festival season, where agents, networks and distributors can talk to us about this fascinating, long-hidden story.
